Hello,
Welcome to my blog and here is the 3rd video in my series 'Films of mine'.
The story:
The premise of this story is quite simple: a young man wakes up with a big hangover. The clip charts his journey from bed to the toilet. Easier than it sounds. oooooooooooooooooh.
The story behind the story:
This film was quite autobiographical at the time. As a student, like many, my life was characterised by alcohol, and the consumption of it. Lots of it. All the time. My hangovers were very bad, particularly towards the end of my university days. Knowing that my drama degree was not going to offer much support in the 'real world' of 'council tax' and 'work' my feeling of utter helplessness caused intense psycological hangovers. They have been comically represented in this film. I suppose you could call this an example of creative therapy.

FILMS OF MINE - FAMILY 2008
Hello,
Here is the second film I will be showing on my blog.
The story:
There is zero narrative here in this story. Its basically a 4 minute long expression of the family bond - to the sound of The Beatles classic 'I get by with a little help from my friends'.
The story behind the story:
Before you watch this video I must acknowledge that it is incredibly self indulgent and tests the patience of any viewer who is not related to myself - due to its lack of engaging story. However, I still decided it was just about worthy enough for public consumption due to my father's performance. When watching this clip you may be struck by his sheer middle aged wierdness. You may ask yourself: 'Is this supposed to be funny?' 'Is this man mentally unwell?' 'How did he get on screen?' 'What does he want?' and 'Who does he imagine is watching?'. You've got to admire his commitment to the role that only he understands.

Films of mine - Mothers Dream 2010
Hello,
This will hopefully be the first in a series of short films/clips I will be making and posting onto my blog. So please take a couple of minutes to take a little look.
The story:
Its fairly ambiguous what the story of this film is actually about, however I hope that you will understand it to be a tale about a lonely mothers anticipation of her son's homecoming.
The story behind the story:
Before making this short I hadn't made any films for about 2, possibly 3, years, so was a little intrigued as to what I would come out with this time round. All I knew was that I wanted to create something for the upcoming Warrington Film Festival and that I wanted to do a modern take on the silent film.
As I had no budget, no actors, no crew and was restricted to Warrington as a location I realized that through my lack of options gave me no choice but to film something at my mothers house, and also use myself and my mother as the protagonists.
So here it is, I hope you enjoy. If it confuses you in any way, just tell yourself that it's 'deliberately ambiguous'. Thats what I did in the moments where I doubted the clarity of its meaning:
